Planning & Budgeting

In late February 2016, KU purchased Oracle’s Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services solution (PBCS).  In July 2016, our implementation partner, Performance Architects, arrived on campus to help us design and implement our new budget system.  Working groups have been identifying current business processes and business requirements for the new system.  We anticipate the system implementation being done in two phases.  Phase 1 will cover the future year budget initiation and preparation and is anticipated to go-live January 2017.  Phase 2 will cover the current year budget management and analysis process.

Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service is a budgeting and planning solution.  It provides both Excel-like modeling and planning within one application.  It will integrate nicely with Microsoft Office applications like Excel and Word.  The PBCS solution will replace KU’s current budgeting tools to include both the Budget Collection Process (BCP) Access database and the PeopleSoft bolt-on, NIBS.  Both the university’s preparation of the future year’s budget as well as the monitoring of the current year budget will be done in the PBCS solution.  We anticipate PBCS being used to collect the FY 2018 budget information in spring 2017.
